If you are like me you are left to wonder how to make a new blog successful. You’ve read countless advice blogs and heard countless stories recounted about how to make your new blog both popular and successful.

There are different schools of thought and many different approaches to starting a new blog and many different ideas on the best way to proceedd.    Based upon my endless research into this topic I have developed a list of key things that all new bloggers should try to adhere to.  Although these ideas might not work for everyone, I have found them to be beneficial to the blogs that I have written and participated in.

• Find a niche and stick to it. Choose a subject for your blog that you are passionate about and it will greatly increase your odds of success. Most of us can write much more naturally about something we feel strongly about.
• Publish new content regularly. It’s no secret that your readers will like to see content supplied to them regularly. It’s also no secret that Google loves new content and is likely to index your website much more efficiently if new content is published regularly.
• Put a personal spin on the content. Most readers find a blog more engaging when they feel a personal attachment to the writer. Write each article as if you are in a personal conversation with your readers. Show your human side. Both will pay off in the long run.
• Acquire your own domain name. Although you can host your site at Blogger and WordPress, it’s always best to secure your own domain name and web hosting. Your blog will look much more professional, and having your own site will give you much more flexibility with your blog’s design, theme implementation, plugin possibilities, etc. I always use HostGator for my hosting needs. • Set realistic goals. Nobody became successful overnight. Don’t make the mistake of thinking you will be the exception. Developing and marketing a successful blog takes both hard work and time. Be patient but keep working. Your reward will make it all seem worthwhile.
